Fall feels like a new start for me. My birthday is in fall and it’s also the end of the year. The transition from summer vacation to fall productivity, the weather changes, holidays are approaching, and it is the start of the 4th quarter of the year.
This all means it is the perfect time for a new daily routine.

Routines – Morning vs Night
Before you work on your daily routines in the fall, you will need to choose between either changing your morning or nighttime routine, or both. Think about what you do each day in the morning, then what you do in the evening. Does one of them need more work than the other?
For example, if your days always start off chaotically and by the time you get to work, you are completely stressed out, you probably need to adjust your morning routine.
On the other hand, if you are having trouble sleeping and always go to bed way too late, it’s your nighttime routine that you need to adjust.
My mornings are usually the best for me. I enjoy getting up early and I feel the most productive early morning. The evening routines is what I really need to focus on. To be honest I really need to create a night time routine. I really want to plan on have a night time skin/facial routine.
Current Routine Upgrade
Have you decided yet which routine you need to update? Or are you upgrading both.
Once you have decided which daily routine to focus on, you can then start thinking of ways to upgrade it.
Questions to ask yourself:
- What is giving you the most problem?
- Where do you need improvements?
- What are you trying to add every day for your health and happiness?
You can write down a short list of things that are just not right in your current routine, whether that means you don’t have time to meditate, eat breakfast, or you feel too rushed in the morning. If you don’t have time to read, or workout, or implement a healthy bedtime routine. This is usually a good place to start.

Do It Now
Once you begin a new routine in the fall, it is also a great time to do something you have been putting off. It could be a new craft class you have wanted to try, a class you would like to take for development, , or a book you really want to read that it sitting on your desk. Take the time to plan these activities into your daily routine this fall.
I’ve implemented reading for 20 minutes into my night routine.
Think about Your Physical and Mental Health
When it comes to daily routines for your overall happiness and wellness, it should be for both your physical and mental health. There both important, and can both be impacted by the choices you make every day. Add at least one activity to your routine for your physical health, and one for your mental or emotional health.
For example, eat food that will nourish your body, incorporate 30 minutes of physical exercise, and set a goal for drinking more water are all good for your physical health.
Daily journaling or planning out your week, meditating, and practicing mindfulness are all good for your mental health. Do you set create new routines in the fall? If so share some in a comment below
