Best Kitchen Appliances for Your Plant-Based Journey!
Ok, so you’ve decided to begin your plant-based journey. Adopting the plant-based diet becomes much easier when you’re prepared for it. Because you’ll be cleaning up your diet, chances are that you’ll be less likely to eat food from restaurants.
Preparing your own meals at home will become the norm. You will begin to meal prep and cook a lot of your own meals. You’ will discover what equipment you’ll need to get your kitchen ready for this new journey. You may already own some of these, but do check against the list below anyway.
- Food processor
A food processor is fantastic for saving you time. It is one of the most versatile kitchen appliances you can/should own. I use my food processor a lot of mixing chopped ingredients for my favorite lentil balls.

- Rice cooker
Rice cookers are an easy way to cook rice in a short time. I think when I first started eating more plant-based I ate rice 3-4 times a week. It was one of the most easiest sides to make that lasted the longest and went with every meal. Having a rice cooker is the easiest way to cook a lot of rice that will last a while.
- Wok
I got my first wok at Ikea for around $8.00. I made so many dishes including veggie fried rice. A wok is easy to use and cooks really fast.
- Pressure cooker
Pressure cookers are great for cooking lentils and root vegetables that take ages to cook. The pressure cooker will speed up the process and reduce your cooking time. I was always a crock pot lover and then came the pressure cooker. It is really just the same thing that does the cooking at a super fast speed.
- Juicer
Purchasing a juicer was the best decisions I have made ever in life. Some vegetables and fruit are best juiced. The overall goodness that fresh juice has is incredible.
Invest in a good juicer. There are two types of juicers – a centrifugal juicer and a masticating juicer. Centrifugal juicers are noisier and generate more heat. They also produce less juice because the slice the vegetables and fruit. However, they’re fast.
Masticating juicers take longer to produce juice, but there’s less food waste and barely any heat is generated. So, the juice is able to last longer because it has not been oxidized by the heat.

- High Speed Blender
You’ll need a blender to blend ingredients when making smoothies, nut milks, salad dressing, etc. There are many uses for a blender. Investing in a good, high quality blender is very important. Blenders have become very high tech and have many capabilities.

- Knives, cutting board, etc.
Of course, you’ll need sharp knives that are made to cut vegetables and fruit. You may also wish to get a new cutting board just for your plant foods. Ideally, it’s always good to have 2 boards – one for meat and one for plant foods. This will prevent cross-contamination and so on.
These are some of the basic equipment you’ll need. With these, it’ll be much easier to quickly prepare a plant-based meal whenever you want. Do invest in better quality equipment that may cost a bit more, but will save you money in the long run.
